This place would definitely get 5 stars if they would invest a little money in the upstairs, re-felt the billiards tables and replace the carpet.
Excellent food. Depending where you're sitting, it's a cool atmosphere. Sometimes the service can be glitchy. But then they are human beings!
Very good beer selection, and awesome selection of all kinds of whiskeys! Knowledgeable and friendly bar and wait staff. Very good food!
Other than that, Incontro is great. So nice to find billiards tables in a really nice restaurant, definitely not your typical "pool hall".
Last night we brought our son out for a great meal. The food was fabulous and Meegan, our server, was fantastic! The bumbling manager, Marty, totally ruined our night. When we walked in and I took off my coat, I put it right back on because it was freezing inside! As we were chatting, I looked around and saw patrons throughout the restaurant wearing their coats while eating their meals! My husband mentioned this to Marty the "manager". Marty told us the heat was set at 78 degrees. We told him it was not that warm. Marty said "I never said it was". Can you believe that? My husband caught up with Marty in a hallway and told Marty he had a rotten attitude. Then, after we paid $200 for three people to have dinner, Marty was at the exit. We told him he ruined our night and the place was freezing. He completed our dining experience by yelling at us and telling us to never come back. No problem. We have been at Incontro many times, the prior week we brought our SIX kids there dinner for several hundred dollars. No worries, we will take our large family and platinum Amex elsewhere next time we want to go out for fine dining.
Went to Incontro for a Christmas party where we used the upstairs billiards space. We were very well served but the food options were significantly limited to bar food. The admin mentioned she tried calling and emailing ahead of time for those with gluten and lactose problems but her attempts were never returned. As a result, my lunch consisted of exclusively spinach and dressing they had behind the bar (literally just spinach, no tomatoes or cucumbers or anything). Super nice space just incredibly disappointed by my lunch and the high hopes I had given the reputation of the restaurant.
Figured I would give this place a try since it has been several years since I had last visited. What a mistake since the place is even worse than the last visit. First off they have a thermostat and heating issue in this place with serious cold drafts blowing in from various exposed windows, with large gaping holes allowing the frigid December temperatures to creep into the main dining room. It was so bad, all the patrons kept their coats on as they ate which is terrible. The menu appears to offer all sorts of creative dishes from steaks to seafood to of course pasta. Decided to try the 6oz filet and jumbo shrimp with truffle fries. When the steak arrived it had grill marks in it which I knew from the appearance it was going to be bad and it was horribly tasting and bland with no seasoning. The shrimp was rubbery and over cooked and had an odd taste to it. The truffle fries were way over cooked and hard, the best part of the meal was ordinary broccoli and the bottle of wine we ordered. The entire meal coupled with the freezing cold dining room was awful and not worth the price tag of over $160 for two bad steaks and a bottle of wine and some kids mac and cheese and a burger. The service was decent but they had no idea how to fix the heat and the place needs a serious menu overhaul and a new kitchen staff. Skip this travesty and go down to the 99 Restaurant across the street where at least you will know what you are in for.
