Here's where the documentation comes into play. I rented the truck on a Saturday, and because the office is closed on Sunday, we were allowed to return it within a 48 hour window instead of the usual 24 hour window. Along with the truck, we ordered some moving equipment in the order of two hand trucks, a dolly, and two bags of moving blankets. So once we returned everything along with the truck Sunday night, on Monday morning, we were charged double for what seems to be the cost of the moving equipment. When we confronted Mike about this, Mr. Customer Service told us that, "I only processes the orders. If you want answers, call U-Haul." Then he hung up. Oh yes, I'll be calling U-Haul, Mike. Not only to get the refund thanks to your stellar customer service ability, but also to file a formal complaint about your shoddy business tactics.

Said he needed it, and I didn't understand. I told him I'd walk and take my business elsewhere rather than provide him with the info.

These people are con artists. They force you to tell them when you are leaving, but when you do, they lock you out and loose your last months payment. I beat them in court.

Walked out before I even finished the contract. Found the employee rude and unhelpful. He wanted an emergency contact who didn't live with me. I declined to provide him one and he refused to continue on with the contract.

Decent rates. Secure facility. Clean units and grounds. Very nice, helpful employees. Good location.

He said "don't have any friends?", "you don't understand ". I understand quite well, you want more people for your mailing lists and sales pitch. Not happening.

For the record, I've used services at 3 different storage places in the past, none have asked for contact info for people that don't live with me.

Tl;dr - Don't use Guardian Self-Storage for their U-Haul service. I can't speak for their self-storage services, but you're still dealing with Good 'Ol Mike, Master of Customer Service, so I can imagine the experience there. Find another U-Haul company if you're looking for a reputable self-moving service that won't make you feel like you need a shower after doing business with them.

The only benefit to this place is they were able to produce a truck for us to use. If it weren't for the U-Haul name associated with this company, I would've expected I was getting swindled. First, don't try calling. They don't answer their phone, ever. If you schedule a pickup online, make sure to save all of your documentation (more on that later). Second, don't be late to your *estimated* U-Haul pickup time or the owner, Mike Coyle, will make you know that you're late, even in my case which was by a half hour. The man has no customer service ability at all, so expect little to no help from him. If it weren't so late in the day on a Saturday, I would've tried going elsewhere for a U-Haul, but I was stuck without any other options. The experience upon leaving his office was so bad that once I returned the truck, I made sure to take pictures of the exterior and interior of the truck just to make sure Mike didn't try pinning me for damage that I didn't do to the truck. I also took pictures of the returned gas guage and the fuel receipt, just to be on the safe side. I know, what a way to make a customer feel good about their patronage.

Brad at Guardian has been BEYOND helpful for my move from Wisconsin to Massachusetts. From the very first time I called about 6 months ago to now, this branch has been incredibly honest with me about cost, what I would probably need for long-term storage, AND worked to find me the best deal. They were responsive, clear, and KIND every step of the way, and that's tough to find with storage and moving companies. I'll be using their truck rental service to move my items from the storage unit to my new apartment because I feel like I've had the pleasure of working with my own family the entire time. DEFINITELY give them a try-- they're the best storage in the greater Boston area. Thanks Brad and Guardian!
